I want to register an Australian (.com.au) domain, but I heard that you have to be registered in Australia first. Is there any other way to get an Australian domain?

I believe you have to be an Australian citizen or company registered in Australia with a physical address in Australia.
I never heard about any registrar providing such a trustee on behalf of non Australian citizens.

You will need to have an Australian business ID to register any AU's...Some registrars offer Trustee Services where they will use their information for you. Contact the registrar first and ask them, I know Hexonet offers this.
