Has anyone else noticed a huge increase in the number of emails they get from people who are going through the whole numeric domain space and sending an email to each one? I used to get two or three of these mass solicitations per week, now it's several per day and getting to be a big pain.

Years ago I might pick one of the emails to respond to, now they all go right to the trash. Waste of my time and their effort.

Recently many of the mass mailings have been coming from random sets of characters at a variety of names, which makes them almost impossible to filter out with a fixed rule. For example [email protected] with chinese in the subject line.

I've been getting a ton from a "email_address @ 163.com" account. They all say the same thing:

Hello,

I am very glad to have a conversation with you.
Do you want to sell your (NNNN domain)?
If yes, please let me know the reansonable price.
Waiting for your reply.
I hope we can have a cooperation in the future.

Thanks.

Yes, there's been a surge in attention from Chinese domainers. Not only NNNs but NNNNs and short words or names in Chinese. If you don't answer, some might contact you again using another email address, and another.

Set up filters based on commonly repeated parameters in the subject or body. If setting it up in CPanel, make sure the action is set to ":fail:" and not "Discard".

It's not a problem, since they bring sales.

i've received 3 from "[email protected]" this week

one guy says, "i only have $$$ budgeted for each of those domains"

i replied saying "these domains will not be sold based on what you 'the buyer' is willing to pay"

Don't even bother responding. I add them to the spam filter and I'm done.
