You must be freakin kidding. The S class has FAR superior interior than any GM model ever, and this was even an understatement. Clearly you have never seen one..

Funny thing...I have a SL500 & a SL600

They are both amazing cars..the SL500 is very nimble & agile..very racy and hotrod like, the SL600 is alot quieter/smoother due to the very balanced design of the V12 which is basically just two V6 engines mated together...plus it's alot heavier & better overall for highway cruising or doing like 160 mph in, it will do 200 mph actually and has about 400 hp stock..the ride is very firm on both cars, you feel almost everything on the road..even the little pebbles you drive over, they definitely have that "on road" feel...the SL500 has the best brakes of any car I have ever driven..stops on a dime as the weight/balance is just about perfect, literally. I only recommend the 129 body series when buying one of these cars, they are tanks, built to last a LONG time...go for a 94'-97' with the sport/amg pkg and you just can't go wrong..the ones before that had some issues with the hydraulics in the convertible top & it's very expensive to fix (like 6-7k)...they started using different ones after 93' or so I believe and the cars still had the 32 valve dual overhead cam 5.0L V8 which is the only engine you want in it, the later engine models have less hp and are'nt as good..the 32 valve model is a bulletproof engine, it can go 300-400k miles with good maintenance. Watch for current or past engine valve gasket leaks when buying a used SL600 because the V12 is very prone to this issue...around 70k miles & up they almost always need the gaskets done which is around a $2k job. other than that they are phenomenal cars, some of the best ever made by MB.

It all depends on what kind of mercedes you are looking at and the age..most old GM car's are fabric and vinyl compared to old mercedes with leather & wood. There are some cars that look like they just came out of a time capsule and others that look like they came from the bottom of the sea, it just all depends on how it was taken care of and if it was protected from the sun & elements...the heat definitely ruins car interiors. Comparing GM & Mercedes is like comparing emeralds & diamonds. They are both great gems. eace:

Nice to see that I like those cars, even if I'm a BMW guy What I hate at MB is the automatic gearbox. I want a manual gearbox and they don't put that on the big engines

I am of course talking about the OLD GM cars..like 67' - 69' camaro's and the old impala ss models, grand national, monte carlo ss, chevelle's, corvette stingray..etc. GM has made some of the most beautiful & longest lasting high performance cars in history, they are some of the most sought after in the world...and I think we can all agree they definitely don't make them like the used to! Maybe I would use the comparison of a LL.com to premium LLL.com's when comparing (old school) Mercedes Benz to (old school) GM. I have a 1987 Monte Carlo SS and a mid 90's SL500 and they both drive just about the same, the Monte Carlo of course is way more fun and sounds amazing but it just did'nt come in a convertible. If they did....well, they might rule the world. At least mine.
