I received an offer of $550.00 for research-uk.com and I am not really sure if I should take it, do a conter offer or is it really worth a lot more. Any assistance you may give will be great.

Also, any pointer on how to properly value a domain would be great!

I disagree. The hyphen will exclude some / most 'random' type-in traffic but this name is very targetted to a niche population and the hyphen adds to the simplicity and memorability of the name.

The reason the domains (in the other thread) sold for so much is they have great keywords and search engines still like hyphenated domains. Some search engines do better with them. Research and UK are decent words, but personally I'd take the $550 offer. You might counter for a bit more, but keep in mind then the buyer might walk away...and you might never receive an offer that high again.

Thank you for you input! Any idea where I could get good information on how to properly value domains? Seems like with a first offer of $550.00, the person would really be willing to go up to $1,100. I don't really need the money right now, but I don't want to loose out on a good offer as well. If it is a good offer for this domain.

Regardless of many valuations you might receive here or at a professinal service such as Sedo or Afternic you still need a ready, willing, and able buyer. I would take that offer. I don't personally think you will see a higher one. Someone can value your domain at $1,100 or $500 but without a buyer both are worth $0. Cheers,

I agree. I'd be very surprised to see additional bidders interested in this domain. If it's one you received offers for frequently then I'd definitely counter, but you don't have too much leverage here.

Incidentally, I just received an offer for a domain this week on Sedo for $5500. I countered at $7500 and the person cancelled the negotiations. That doesn't seem like too much of a leap to me

I lost a 12k offer on a domain and I didn't counter at all I did was change the funds from Euro to Dollar. I didn't think the buyer would mind but I miscalulated and the buyer cancelled the offer. I have since never received an offer anywhere close to that.

Did you contact Sedo? They may be able to contact buyer on your behalf to renegotiate...

I would accept the offer. Hyphens are actually quite common in other countries besides the US. Good luck with the sale
