ICANN Moves Against GoDaddy Domain Lockdowns

I think GoDaddy is shortsighted over this policy it must have cost them thousands of registrations because I don't think they realize how much it irks Domainers.
...
I'm pretty sure that godaddy gets a lot of business from domainers, but their business model revolves around the average John Doe. Outside domaining circles not everyone is aware of actual Icann rules etc, that's why they can get away with their BS.

I prefer to keep things in the USA.
US juridiction is not without risks either :veryangry:
For sensitive domains think twice.

these pricks are still refusing to let me take these names out. they got more to lose than me, i only have to wait, they get icann complaints.

you'd think with adam's godaddy contacts he'd be able to get a 'rep' on here although from the people from godaddy i've dealt with so far, we're talking IQ of 34, on average

www.nodaddy.com

Actually, once you transfer in the name, they force you to accept that the domain can't be transferred out for 60 days.

This is true for godaddy and all resellers (wwd).

They claim its to protect domainers from scams, but then they don't do anything once a domainer is scammed. Kinda ironic.
