is it better to register an IDN in its country of origin, or would it not matter due to the name server system?:greenconfused:

ahhh c'mon..someone take a shot at this one... ;)

Alright, well, it depends on what you are asking which could be two things.

In some cases to register a domain in a certain extension one must qualify by being a citizen or resident of a country attached to the extension (like .CA for Canada). But in general, it doesn't matter where on earth you register a .com or .net. It doesn't matter where you are to register a .jp either.

If, however, you are really asking, "is it better to register the Japanese word for "breast" in .jp rather than .com well then you enter a largely philosophical debate. As yet unresolved, I'd say .jp will be worth more to end users than .com followed by .net. Every country will weigh the extensions differently.
