Yep, got to say I do agree with IDN's, but this will only damage the repuation and must be stopped.

somehow I doubt they realized it was an IDN.
I was thinking that as the bids kept getting higher and higher...I bet the seller's laughing all the way to the bank..(if the transaction is completed).

Looks like a ripoff to me. Anyone selling these IDN names should go to great lengths to explain what is involved, other wise I think it's misleading and they are open to suit.

Another scammer at ebay. It's these sales which damage IDN's rep

It's all about the quick cash isn't it, these are people who don't care about ethics or the reputation of IDN's because they simply don't plan on building a reputation for themselves, they want money fast and easy. They lack the patience to wait and the moral to properly inform their clients, these are the kind off people that would invite you to buy a box of stones where you think it is a dvd-player, these are the people that pray on the good faith of others for their self-interest.

Their underlying mentality is the cancer of capitalism, anytime you hear someone talk about how capitalism destroys our ecosystems you must reply with saying that those responsible are destroying capitalism just as well. ( seek the analogy here )

Maybe this piercequinn character thinks that áll domain names have a special punycode ?

To be honest, I was less informative when it came to selling my single character IDNs but at least it was clear that they were special characters and here a n00b can be fully unaware of that fact.

an old auction of mine :

.....ummmmmm

Can anyone here explain more on the IDN names?

I've just had a look on Verisign,
but aren't the "IDN names" referring to other domains in other languages?

How come "sex" has an "IDN"???
confused.....

An IDN is an internationalized domain name. They have been created for those whose primary languages are not made up of Roman characters such as Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, etc. If you look at the sale of the IDN it's not the Roman or standard version of the domain name. It uses special characters.

Unfortunate Mess! This guy must be a real mug, however, to be spending $6200 on domains when he hasn't got the first clue. Nobody was ever going to get the genuine article for that kind of money and the fake is worth a dime! Doubt if the deal will go through though, as most of these don't.

It is a real shame that people are trying so hard to scam a few bob, when the real commercial potential of these domains is much higher, without the contigent risk of getting sued. Genuine IDN business is going down and will soon be very big business indeed! Those who waste their time on such scams must have brains the size of peanuts!

From an IDN perspective though, it may not all be bad news. As they say, there is no such thing as bad publicity!

Best Regards

I can't grasp it, now, bullshit names like fìnd.com and ìs.com actually get $100> bids,
the single-character e.com from dillpup must go for a whole lot more if there's any sense in this at all. Actually a single-character IDN. net was recently sold on the afternic bazaar for about $480, that's a good thing but it doesn't mean a whole lot if the next best sale is for <$50, it's going up and down.

Off course there's another "sex.com" offered on ebay...

Hold on to the single character domains as these are legitimate IDN and will be very valuable eventually. I actually get a lot of type in and Overture on my single Cyrillic characters. Japanese and Chinese single characters often having meaning, indeed they are words and sometimes surnames.

The mixed alphabet domains that our clever cloggs are trying to flog on ebay are worthless. Not even registration fee. To get type in on these someone would have to have a Cyrillic Keyboard and deliberately mix Romanic and Cyrillic. Why would anyone do that?
