If you correlate and constitute actual success within the domain industry as 'fame' - Then, my response is, if you only knew the half of it. I'm no Ult Search, but I assure you - I've made my impact within this industry, several times over. Email me, I'll shoot you over some Escrow screenshots (domains edited out) - With $xxx, xxx in sales, just in November and December alone. But don't turn this into a me vs you thread. That's not what this is about. It's about IDN's, and how my opinion greatly varies from yours - in that regard.
Touche. It is difficult to convince the doubting Thomases on this one who are clearly in the majority. It has, however, been a massive project putting IDN together and although results have been slow to come through, IDNs are clearly on their way. Really, I thought I had bought enough until I seen tonights offerings.
Ultimately, it will be traffic and PPC that spur the resell market for IDN. All I can say is that our figures show that traffic is growing and rapidly. If people are searching and clicking on Trafficz, then eventually a proper market will develop that exploits the advertising potential of these domains. It has already happened with Germain IDN, why should Japanese and Chinese be any different, when the benefits versus the trade offs are so much greater. It is only a question of waiting for the markets to develop. The concept that "they will all opt for English" is ludacrous, when the only real English content on most Chinese and Japanese sites now is the URL and that only because historically there was no choice.
As for Arabic, it is in its infancy with hardly any websites compared with other markets, nevertheless we have some Arabic characters with Overture searches well into 4 figures each month. Unless the Pixies are doing it, we can only assume that there is some serious interest from somebody in this department. Very enthusiastic I may be. Deluded you may yet have to eat!
