Hi

I'm buying a domain from a user of fabulous.com

How will be the best way to transfer from there to either my Freeola or 1and1.co.uk account?

Can I open a fabulous account so he can 'push' to me? I don't have enough 'premium domains' to join, I don't think, so how would that work?

Any help is much appreciated
I've reallly been appreciating this forum lately - you guys are great :D

Hi

once you have sent payment to the seller, they should send you the "authorization code", which is required to transfer a domain from one registrar to another.

you will then initiate a transfer request at your preferred registrar, by entering the domain name and the authorization code in the transfer request.

as such, you will also be responsible for the fee to transfer.

note: make sure to have the seller "unlock" the domain before you start the transfer process and DON'T tell anyone the domain until you have it in your account.

good luck!

imo...

Thanks for the fast reply!

Is there no way to 'push' it? I'd rather avoid GoDaddy and their 60 day limit - but would be nice to know the domain is in my hands as soon as possible

So who would you transfer it into? I'd like it to be as safe as possible ideally, so which registrar has the best reputation for keeping domains as secure as possible? (other than fabulous, as I doubt i'll be eligable to join!)

Thanks again for good advice
(I didnt realise the transfer was still risky, even if people didnt have the auth code)

Is the domain at Fabulous or Godaddy? Or is it just parked at Fabulous? If it's at Godaddy, just leave it there, the 60 day rule will apply, if it's at Fabulous, you can also leave it there, no need to be "accepted" unless you want to park it.

Basically 1and1 is well known as THE WORST REGISTRAR bar none, hands down. You are seriously advised to NOT transfer it there, dont say i didnt warn you.

go to the Fabulous section and ask Mike or someone there from Fabulous if you can set up an account. you never know unless you ask...pushing from one Fabulous account to another is easy if you get that set up.

Thanks ive PM'd mike now

The seller seems to have sent me a special link to join anyway

Does that sound about right?

Thanks again everyone

And why is 1&1 so bad?

Many thanks,

you can only "push" a domain from one account to another, "within" the same registrar.

you cannot "push" domains from one registrar to another.

best to leave at fab
