Yeah, but that's the thing with domain names.

Just because you register it for $2 doesn't mean it's only worth $2.

YESTERDAY before it was registered, it was worth $2....today, when it is no longer available for registration it is worth potentially a LOT more.

The other name you're referring to is dubliners.info...'dubliners' is a huge term in Ireland, the UK, and Europe. Dublin is also a tech capital in Europe currently. Not to mention tourism, which is worth billions of dollars each year to Dublin and those who promote trips to the city and Ireland.

I think it's a great name.

I also think IMAGE-GALLERY.COM is a great name. It's Google-bait for the right site/product/service.

Speaking as a Dubliner, yes, it is a huge term in Ireland from the socio/geographic point of view. It's also the name of a very famous Irish folk group. Does a term being well-known really make such a difference to a name's value, though? Some difference, obviously, and maybe quite a lot. But a difference of thousands? As a newbie this is a question that interests me greatly.

Yes, I think if a name is well known it WILL make a HUGE difference. Not all the time, but certainly in most cases.

It basically opens the name up to more commercial development opportunities, which in turn make it more valuable to more buyers....
