How important is private registration. I am quite a privacy nut and currently have most of my domains privately registered. However, I'm thinking of moving half of my domains to another registrar who doesn't offer private registrations. Is that a mistake?

FYI, my domains are registered with a generic email address and PO Box address. It does have my real name though.

Thanks!

If you feels its so important, than you should and must avail private registration services..

Therefore, you need to review on what all domain you need private whois and than act accordingly.

If I am in your place,I would stick to registrar providing private registration that to for free :D

There's always a trade-off and the balance is up to you. If you are trying to sell the domains, having the registration information readily viewable allows the potential buyer to confirm that the domain does indeed belong to you, allaying concerns about stolen domains or improper selling of other ppl's domains etc. If your domain is the name of your business or a name otherwise not for sale, then private registration should have little disadvantages.

Basically, if you're selling it, it helps to keep it public. You don't have to, but it can help.
