I knew once of a big discussion of wether the plural of virus was viruses or virii.
In the begining virii was the one (on the internet, in 1999). By 2000 and since, viruses seems to be also accepted.

What am I getting at?
in theory, you would be correct, it is the plural form.
In practical terms, there isnt much, since the term is usually only used as a non plural.
i.e. It is the flu, not the flues :-)
unlike the blues.

now, I rhyme.

'haemophilus influenzae' in the above context makes 'influenzae' an adjective in Latin, not a plural form.

Reg fee. Sorry.
