I am thinking about investing $600 to get an account with SRSplus and use their API, but I am unsure if its all worth it.

could you pros and gurus please help me?

The reason I want to get the account is to use their API, and write a script to grab domains that get drop through netsol, how effective would this be? and is this what all the big players do? (is this what snapnames do?)

at the moment I have my script doing this at enom, but it seems that most names get drop at netsol, so players at netsol will snap it before enom even knows about its availability, so unless the name is dropped at enom, I have no chance at snapping names with enom..is this correct?

anyone know, when names are dropped at netsol, does enom know it straight away and allow registration for the name? or is enom simply useless for snapping names?

any info would be appreciated.

thanks

If you are drop catching at enom, especially if you are using Domain Guru's little tool, all I have to say is good luck!! The big players have RRP connections and poll the registry hundreds of times a second. If you want a name you have to go through them. There are also strategies involved but it would be a crime to divulge that kind of information ;) You might have a chance on beating namewinner/expirefish or another person trying to hand register though.

Im trying to catch drops at enom using my own script, I don't know anything about domain guru's tool.

the sad thing about enom is that they don't let you constantly query their system, you have to leave at least 2 second pause between each query, so the hundreds of times per second is literally impossible with enom.

im pretty new to this whole thing, could someone care to tell me more about the RRP and how could we establish one? any fees involved?

Thanks in advance

RRP is the systems used for connections between registrars and the registry.

Each registrar gets a certain number of connections, and only some of these can be used for constantly trying to grab dropping names.

If you want to become a registrar it is quite expensive. See http://www.icann.org/registrars/accreditation.htm

Registrars restrict customers from sending too many queries because they do not want you using up all their connections.

Some of the big players in the domain grab industry have signed exclusive deals with smaller registrars to use their conenctions, that is one of the ways that there are so successful in grabbing high profile domains.

Regards,

Mark......

By the way your aplusmedia.com site needs an index page and you need to turn off directory listings. At the moment anyone can see all the perl scripts, textfile "databases" etc you have there.
