.INFO or .US - Which is better?

Tough call.. kinda depends on the prefix name being used. I like 'a good .info' when the prefix 'makes sense' such as:

StockMarket.Info (that would be a perfect .info)

I prefer a .com over the .us as well.

Just my own personal 'likes' !!

Goodluck!

Which is better depends on the root word, so there is no way to say one is better than the other without seeing the name (so I could not vote).

As far as pure resale value today, .info is better. It has been around longer and has nearly 3 times more total registrations than .us (thus there are fewer good names left in .info). .US sales will pick up as good names continue to disappear (I am helping make that happen) and people hear about and become used to the extension.

Also you are comparing apples and oranges. .info is a global TLD, suitable for use worldwide. .US is the American country code TLD meant only for entities based or with a significant presence in the U.S. I would think that due to its worldwide appeal that overall .info will probably stay above .us in value - however the U.S. is a huge market, so many well chosen .US names could be worth more than their .info counterparts.

I personally like the future prospects of both and register names based on what is best with the extension. If you are an American, .US will have a broader range of uses than .info. If you have an informational site, you won't find an extension that makes more sense than .info.

I know. But, I wanted to pose an open question on it anyway.

Thanks for the responses, people!

Let me pose a slightly different question..

Given one is eligible for a .us presense, which one would make better sense for a commercial endeavor (given the .com and the .biz are taken)? In my very humble opinion, it is and will continue to be a tough call until .us gets the recognition it deserves.

PS does my prejudice show?

info unrestricted (many names stolen)
us highly restricted (and many names reserved)
info global
us not so global
something.info might mean info about something
something.us doesn't mean us about something
example: contact.info might mean contact info
contact.us doesn't mean contact us
