Someone mentioned a while back that they had a method for getting price breaks for domains offered by BuyDomains.

My own method is to request a price and once they contact me I'd not respond; two weeks later they'd offer 10% off.

The domain I'm interested in has a fixed price. Anyone knows of how to negotiate a lower price without making an Afternic offer?

Submit an offer using 800 number.

When they send email a few days later with offer confirmation reply saying the counter price is too high.

Wait a few more days for a sales exec to call, normally a woman.

Ask for traffic stats to justify the price. She will not give it.

Wait a few more days and call or email her asking again for low price and stats.

She will call or email back saying no again on your low price but drop price maybe $100 and give some sketchy or limited stats over the phone. Tell her without traffic you can't pay that much. She will say how much will you pay? You tell her high xxx or whatever. She will say I need to check with someone else but will you pay right away if I get it approved?

She will quickly call or email back same or next day saying done deal and send us the paypal now and will email you accepting the low price.

A week later they will transfer the domain to you.

It is like a game.

good advice Seraphim..you are awesome as always dude ;)

Someone please PM me email address of a good buydomains rep, I want to make an offer on a name below the fixed price.

I have found they will drop as much as 50% across the board.

Hey there, can you please send me you tips with buydomains? Thanks!

I have a couple tricks and I usually get up to 50% off on the fixed prices...but the ones without fixed price...I could use some help...

Well, the trick seems to be simple: cold-calling, talking politely and making an offer indicating that you intend to purchase immediately.

It's exactly as Acro put it. I've never gotten them lower than -30%, perhaps the market is softening up.

50% has been a norm for years. Obviously they may be stickier on certain types of names or names they grossly over paid for on a drop but generally they will take half .

Last week I got a name they had listed at $2488 for $1200. The name has very little traffic and I told them I would complete the sale right away...which I did.

I think if you are serious and do not jerk them around...you can get a deal.

i have gotten half price twice from them by calling in low balling

I always tell them if they will take my offer i will pay immediately

both times they called me back and accepted
