DNF Whois Introducing WHOIS Lookup

Hello Everyone ,

I'm pleased to announce that Whois Lookup is now available on DNForum:

Most domain lookup tools provide only a basic view of registration data, often requiring users to visit multiple sources to understand the complete picture behind a domain.

The DNForum Whois Lookup is built on RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) and retrieves live data directly from authoritative registry and registrar sources. Instead of presenting a simplified response, it exposes the underlying registration data in a structured and transparent way.

Key features include:

• Automatic RDAP discovery using IANA bootstrap data
• Separate Registry and Registrar information panels
• Registrar details and abuse contact information
• Domain status codes and lifecycle events
• Nameserver and DNSSEC information
• RDAP notices and compliance data
• Direct links to authoritative data sources
• Raw RDAP JSON for advanced users and developers

The goal is to give domain investors, researchers, brokers, and developers a more complete view of a domain's registration data without leaving DNForum.

You can also access the tool directly from the DNForum navigation menu by clicking Whois.

@birajst, while you are working on displaying more and more details there: 1) can you please rename it "Deep Whois"? Thank you

As for the plan: please continue working on it: displaying A, AAAA, CAA, CNAME, MX, TX and other records (maybe similar as here: https://dnschecker.org/all-dns-records-of-domain.php).. also, we should have an opportunity to analyze subdomains there

An interesting one would be locating dmarc records (usually: _dmarc.domainname.com) >> this often shows an email address that is monitored by an admin = valuable email for any domain broker trying to buy or sell a domain name

Hey Everyone

Something that was already suggested by @Helmuts in this thread is now live: DNS Lookup is now part of Deep Whois!

Until now, Deep Whois only showed RDAP/WHOIS data like ownership, registrar, expiry, and nameservers. There was no way to inspect the actual DNS records of a domain directly from the tool.

Now when you look up any domain, you will see a DNS Lookup section right alongside the WHOIS data. Just click on any record type and it will instantly fetch and display the results:

A, AAAA, CAA, CNAME, MX, NS, DS, DNSKEY, SOA, SRV, TXT

It is a basic implementation for now showing the core record data, and I plan to expand it further with more detail and a richer view down the road. Subdomain analysis and DMARC record detection are also on the roadmap and I will share an update once they are ready.

Hey Everyone

Small but useful update to the DNS Lookup section in Deep Whois!

The DNS results were showing up in a raw, hard to read format with no clear structure. So I have cleaned that up. Now each result shows:

- Domain name
- TTL
- Record type
- Record value
- A clear message if no record is found for that type

TXT records were the messiest ones since they often contain long strings with extra quotes around them. Those are now stripped out and shown in a cleaner block, making them easier to scan. There is still room to improve how those long TXT records look and that is already on my list.
