Investment in domain questions for domain owner/seller

Ok.. i am looking to invest some of my money into domain name. I have one questions for the big domain owner/guru on this board: how do you guys make money for renewing your batch of domain name. Because I know some people who owns thousands of domain name. each year. They have to renew it. And well if you calculate renewal prices. you will be paying way into the thousands if you have thousands of domain name.

Please help me clarify this point and fill me in on the trick of the trades.

renewing domain names is an expense....a cost of doing business, in this business.

you never make money on renewals, "unless you are a domain reseller and have a registration website or subaccounts under you".

then you can make money as others renew their domains.


the best you can do is either, sell your domain above the cost you paid to acquire it, plus all renewal fees.

or keep renewing the domain because it makes money from a website, parking/affiliate programs or combo of each.

imo...

develop as many sites as you can to generate ppc or affiliate income to cover the renewal fees on the more speculative names.
