I've just had this valued by Afternic:

--------------------------------------------
The following is your detailed appraisal.

Domain Name: iraqswar.com
Commercial Development Potential: 36/50
Recognition: 34/50
Length: 42/50
Extension Value: 50/50

CMV: $ 2,400.00
PMV: $ 16,500.00

Notes: An estimated 1.8 million related searches each month.
--------------------------------------------

I also have the .net, .org and .info names - I really went to town on this one!

Notes:
1. This is my first post here :shy:, so please be gentle.
2. I am not in favour (Brit.) of the pending war, and I think that such a site could present Iraq's point of view. Whether that would appeal to many people or not is debatable.
3. I have to be quick!

Thanks ...

PS I also own iraqusa.com etc.

Hi rprosser & welcome. Did you pay for this appraisal and if so, do you mind saying how much?

Cheers

Yes - $19.95; it's the first appraisal that I've bothered with for a long time. I need to find ways to promote the name(s) though.

Thanks ...

Well that's why I asked. I do not understand why auction sites continue to offer appraisals as one of their services. Especially one whith such a dubious history who is trying to start anew.

It's a no win situation. The appraisal must be way over valued or you end up with a client that is not happy. When others see the over valued appraisal it casts a dark shadow on the(appraiser) auction house.

I will not place any names with afternic based on the fact that they would produce such a rediculous(IMO) appraisal.

No offence intended Richard. I just don't believe in appraisals that are paid for. And if it makes you feel any better I can show you a few that I paid for when I first started out. So can a few others here. If you want a decent appraisal post your names here. You can also use as a guide:

http://www.mudfence.com/dna/

It was designed by a couple of members here. It may not be bang on, but it will be much closer that anything you pay for.

Simply amazing. I've lost a lot of respect for the new Afternic after seeing that appraisal. I wonder if they even monitor sales on their own site?

Hope you don't take offense Richard, but the name is more accurately in the $50 to $100 range. It may be usable for some sort of development, but the commercial value is next to nothing.

There are still available names like www.theiraqiwar.com that would serve the same purpose.

Welcome to DNForum by the way. I hope you stick around!

OK - thanks for the comments. I'm beginning to think that my time, money and effort might be better spent in other pursuits!

War domains get 5 to 10 times the hits that Peace domains get - might want to stick to sex - gets more hits than all others.
