Recently acquired ireland.uk.com. Though a new class of domain, I think it would have great appeal for development and has strong recognition. Thoughts?

Obviously a very strong keyword, OVT is 154267 for ireland alone, not to mention all of the possible combos (ireland map, ireland travel, etc...)

I am not sold on these subdomains just yet as far as reselling goes, there are lots of great keywords available in uk.com, us.com, etc... I am not aware of any .uk.com sales in recent history, no big ones anyway...

But the potential is there to develop a serious high traffic site...

Good luck...

You do realise that Ireland is not part of the UK?

Value is $0 + whatever time you waste developing a site and then answering emails from irritated Irish people....

Thanks for the reply. Here is my Wikipedia response. Regardless, I like the name as a european domain which, although, maybe not entirely geographically correct, it still has appeal to us 'lesser knowing' americans.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (usually shortened to the United Kingdom, Britain, or the UK) is a country [1] [2] [3] and sovereign state[4] occupying most of the British Isles off the northwest coast of mainland Europe. Its territory and population are primarily situated on the island of Great Britain, but it also shares a land border with the Republic of Ireland on the island of Ireland. The United Kingdom is otherwise surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and its ancillary bodies of water- the North Sea, the English Channel, the Celtic Sea, and the Irish Sea.

Any 'lesser knowing' American of Irish descent knows that Ireland is not part of the UK. There was a revolution fought to gain independence from the UK and many lost their lives, some were executed as insurrectionists. Ireland has been an independent nation for over 80 year.

Your name could be construed to some (the old timers) as a slap in the face to the Irish.
