Is AI Search About to Destroy Domain Value?

I’ve been noticing a shift that could have serious impact on domain value.

More users are getting answers directly from AI instead of clicking through search results. That means less traffic flowing to websites, and potentially less value tied to domains purely based on SEO.

If AI starts selecting and mentioning brands instead of showing lists of links, the game changes completely.

It raises a few questions:
• Do domains lose value if traffic decreases?
• Or do strong brandable domains become even more important?
• Does AI favor certain types of domains or structures?

I’ve been testing this a bit with a tool we built to analyze how websites are interpreted by AI systems:
https://scalevise.com/ai-visibility-geo-checker

Not trying to promote it here, just using it to understand patterns.

Curious how others here see this.

Is AI search a threat to domain value, or an opportunity?
