Since about 2017 google have said that exact match domains no longer help in ranking a website. It will always be about content, inbound links, utility, and various other things known only to their algorithms. However it also doesn't count against you and can't hurt.

I created websites for customers and you don't need to have exact match to increase ranking. Like @RobM said. it's all about meta data, title, description, the contents and working with Google listing. Ex: Restaurant names never have exact match.
