Is it easier to find and hand-reg a good name vs buying on the forum?

I just fully realized the most interesting thing I have discovered over the recent past is it seems easier to find good unregistered domains available in both .com and .org (my 2 favorite tlds) compared to most all the domains offered for sale on the forum :?:

Hardly a day goes by where I don't see that scenario. For example, over the past few days I hand reg'd 4 new names (all .com's) that probably will get at least a bit of immediate typein traffic plus have excellent keywords for development vs the names I have seen offered on the forum, either low price or high priced offerings, the names on the board are still inferior.

I have actually seen that trend for a long time with occasional exceptions (somewhat rarely posted higher priced names or offers with sites included) but lately that trend seems to be almost an every-day and ongoing thing. Anyone else notice this going on?

I find that when I have a certain niche in mind, I can find some decent hand-regs. But, if I am just window shopping I still like the forum. I find what I think are good deals under $50 here all the time.

I do not agree either....other than brand new tech domains and certain niches for hand regs...maybe some decent drops to hand reg as well (but domainers already picked through those and did not want them).

There is a good deal of crap on the forum, but there are also some great names....I see lll.org's and other .org's 100x better than hand regs right now on the forum.

Right, it's more applicable when looking for category names such as the recent ones I reg'd which were all health related type of names.

In fact I think that quite a few people are posting domain wanted posts only to get suggestions - they are fishing for ideas.

It is really a mixed bag on the forums, from poor quality to great names offered. I also still find good quality hand regs too from time to time.
