Is not posting a link to your own sales page a new rule?

I noticed a Mod closed someone else's sales tread today for this reason "Reason thread was closed: Promoting off site sale / all domains need to be in the post."

It looked like a link to his own site where he had his names listed with prices. Am guessing a reason he did that was because the list would be too long and cumbersome for buyers to work with if posted on the forum. I was not aware that could not be done until now. Is it a new rule? p.s. I was thinking about posting something similar with my link.

We've never allowed people to use off-site sites to sell domains (with the exception being the external links forum and the "$60 minimum bid" auction forums).

Also, the domains need to be in the post:

10. ALL DOMAIN SALES MUST list the actual domain name IN THE POST, and at least one of the domain names being sold in the title of the post, you must post the ACTUAL DOMAIN NAME. No spacing of letters or domains is permitted in titles and/or posts for all Platinum Sales sections as well as the Domain Appraisal section. There's a solution for those avoiding spiders, you may use example(.)com or example(dot)com. In addition, most forums have a sticky thread or an announcement thread (or perhaps both) with more rules specific to that subforum. Please check for specific sticky threads and specific announcements that pertain to the subforum before posting in the forums. This rule is echoed in many sticky threads across our forum. Checking for a sticky before posting is netiquette you should be aware of, in any forum. Further reading here.

to get around that..


post a few names in the thread and put the link to your website in your signature

you can state in the post that "if you wish to see our entire portfolio of domain names for sale, please visit the link in my sig." or something to that effect.

and as long as the number of links in your signature remains within forum guidelines, then you're all good.

you can also attach a text file with additional domains as an alternative.

Thanks Don. Good idea. But not nearly as effective vs the link in the body of post.

The fact I dd not know about this rule shows you how rarely I post lists of names for sale.

The OP who had the thread closed was also a long time exclusive member.
