Is this normal?...

I'm in the process of buying a name from a reseller.

The affilias whois and the registrar's whois both agree on who the registrant is.

But they disagree on the admin, technical, and billing contacts.

Affilias says the admin, technical and billing are the same as the registrant. But the registrar says the admin, technical and billing are all someone else in another country.

I'm begging to think all of the details may be false.

Does this mean I am going to have problems buying the name, and getting the ownership details changed?

1- Check the history of the domain as much as you can.
2- admin info the the important one of the contact, ignore the rest.
3 - Mention the reseller, probably known to a few of us here.

4 - mention the domain to those you trust - TheWatcher is one, mention the price to so we know how much to care

I've already gone ahead with buying the name, through escrow.com, but haven't yet confirmed that I've received the name.

I've changed all the contact details to my own, and they are showing up in several different "WHOIS" databases. Except for the original registrar's database, where it still has the original registrants details.

Should I be concerned about this?

Just an update...

Haven't had any problems.

The previous registrar just seems to be very slack in updating their whois database.
