Can anyone verify the following:
If a buyer is having difficulty initiating a domain transfer through their registrar, is it standard practice for Sedo to ask the seller to instead push the domain to Sedo's Godaddy account?

Yes.

The second option in your case has been the standard to me.
They always ask me to push the domain to their account at Moniker, Sedo, etc.
This is a lot faster and safer for everybody...
