They do sensor any intercourse and private parts. Breasts, although, are not sesored on regular television as its considered natural.

On television and magazines, criminals in handcuffs; the handcuffs are sensored.

Up until 2000, there used to be porn from all ages. i mean "all" ages. you could even rent videos from the video store. Some of these magazines and books were in childrens reach.
I do admit that i took a look at it cause i couldnt believe it. I thought it was a joke. When i opened the book, i was very shocked, angry, and felt so sad about seeing those images.
Japan is not the center of p0rn and would like that image be removed from your brains.

In the trains, when we go to work or on our way home, some businessmen read "manga" in the train that shows sexual intercourse, rape, etc. Eventhough its a comic, they still sensor the intercourse and private parts.

Red-light districs are closely watched. Most of the brothels are located in "Kabukichou" in Shinjuku. This place is crawling with mafia. If you come to Japan, i advise you NOT to go to that area unless you have a full understanding of Japan. you could get in trouble.

as for using .jp, you could get it removed only if there are complaints. If there are no complaints, they just ignore it. That is the Japanese way. The police dont do a damn thing here unless there are complaints. If you are expressing yourself in Japan or using .jp, you can as long as you dont hurt anyone. To take your .jp away for putting up porn is a violation of the Self-expression act.

I dont think that there is any problem using unsensored porn as long as the database is in a country where those images are allowed.

I know the basic Japanese laws regarding Adult content, we operated a Asian site many years ago, where all the content was licensed, so we learned a lot from it, what we can and can not do.

The one thing I did not know about was the underage material being sold there, which I'm glad they stopped it....Thanks again for the info MobileDesigner!

I used to work for a major us video rental company running their video games business. When I went to Japan I checked the adult section of an established video chain to understand what sort of products they rented there (in US the big chains don't do porn because it isn't "family friendly"). I was shocked to see child porn for rent on the shelves of this major chain. I know Japan very well and I have a pretty good understanding and acceptance of cultural norms there but this was one thing which completely and utterly floored me. Haven't been to a rental store in a while but I too hope that this practice has ended.

I agree with the Statements that the JPRS probably won't do anything unless they get complaints but who knows what lies in the future.
For those of us that are residents in Japan the risk is greater. Start a US style porn site on a dot jp we could risk prosecution. I probably wouldn't care if I didn't live in Tokyo.
I have quite a few adult related Japanese domains & some are in the top 10 of searched adult terms in Japan. A few I got in jp & dot com & personally would be more willing to try to develop with the dot coms. My thoughts only apply because it's easy to find one in Japan.

If you have mosaics over the genitals you'll be cool. It's the law for Japan residents.
