1/ From recent news I've heard, Wallpapers and image downloads are declining in popularity at a fast pace due to a huge rise in Camera Phones :yes:
2/ Although Jpegs are a popular format there are also other popular formats around for the mobiles like Gifs for example which also carry an advantage of animation etc..
