If Kathy's got a good lawyer and aware of this:

http://www.pubcon.com/redirect.cgi?...tml/uscode15/usc_sec_15_00001129----000-.html

Any person who registers a domain name that consists of the name of another living person, or a name substantially and confusingly similar thereto, without that person’s consent, with the specific intent to profit from such name by selling the domain name for financial gain to that person or any third party, shall be liable in a civil action by such person.

Then she might be in good hands. Then again, if what the article said is true:

Since then, Griffin has claimed the site is made up of commercial content and is operated through a portal that generates revenue through click-through advertisements.

But after the lawsuit was filed, the site has since changed, reading "Are you looking for Kathy’s official website? It's located at KathyGriffin.net."

And if Kathy's able to demonstrate trademark rights to her name, she can win.
I'm not optimistic on the registrant's ability to win this one.

the .com site now says

They're trying to cover their rears in the lawsuit to make it look like they are not squatting on her name. A quick check on the history will tell a different story.

Looks like a pretty clear violation of 15 USC sect 1129 and a likely violation of 1125(d).

Kathy's boyfriend is Steve Wozniak co founder of Apple. Being part of that circle of friends is probably what woke her up on the domain name situation and doesn't bode very well for the sites current owner.

She caters to a particular audience. More reality TV, gossipy... sort of stuff. Don't compare her to other comedians and listen to her in that context and she's pretty funny :)
