What do you think Kobe.org is worth?

(Kobe is a huge city in Western Japan, the 6th largest city in the country, with over 1.5 million inhabitants...)

I like kobe, it's a beautiful city :)

since it's a big city I would say 10000 Yen+ to the right end user.

Good luck

Nice name good luck

Kobe Bryant's parents said they named him after their favorite restaurant, Kobe Steakhouse (no joke), LOL.

Isn't that a TM issue?

Nice name Genki.

Thanks for all the ideas and comments. Yeah, I'm very happy to have been able to grab the name - I have big plans for it in the future...

I think it was an earthquake - they've managed to rebuild the most of the damaged areas.

I see two pluses and two minuses.

Plus - MAJOR city names have tremendous value – not from the Overture count – but from a walking count – that is a count which board members are not sensitive to. Walk one block in either direction in a city and will see the name 1,000 times on signs. About 1 in 50 (20) will have web sites and desire a memorable e-mail/name. BUT THAT IS PER BLOCK WALKING. One can approach buyers by a physical search (walk) rather than E-mailing “are you interested” notices!!!

Plus - Those buyers have no objective way in determining domain value and their tongue sticks out when you explain how Loan.com sold for $5 million or that the dot TV registry is now offering Kobe.TV at the bargain rental (type it in on their PC) of only $1,500 per year rental or Tokyo.TV at $10,000 per year rental. “So I only pay $600 once and I own it for life.” – asked the prospective buyer.

Minus – it is an org.

Minus – 95% of the signs in Kobe do not say Kobe, they are in Japanese.

Good luck,

Thanks for your comments.

If I could just address the above, mainly for the benefit of people unfamiliar with Japan... I am 100% certain that every one of the 1.5 million+ people living in Kobe will recognize the word "Kobe" as the name of their city - even though they may see the word itself most frequently written in Japanese Kanji characters.

If Kobe.com, I think over US$7,500 worth.

Overture -> 759, Very nice. May be "Kobe Bryant"

But Japanese do not buy .org domains. This is problem.

Edwin:

Get rid of the search engine/firestarter pop-up web page. Instead, ignite buyers’ imagination by putting up an appropriate one page web site. It would greet visitors with: 3 photos of downtown Kobe, 3 courtside shots of Kobe Bryant, and 3 pictures of Kobe steaks. I am told that a Kobe steak dinner (in Philly) costs $90 at a nearby restaurant. That way you have all potential markets covered.

I also do not buy .ORGs domains. But if I had an interest in a dot com name that was not available and would cost $7,500 – I would not give the .ORG a second though scooping it up for only $750.

Good luck
