L33T.com

I am considering leasing the name from it's owner with an option to buy.
What do you guys consider it's value? I ain't worried about someone hear trying to muscle this one because the owner wants a buttload of money.

He will however lease it to me at a somewhat reasonable cost. I am interested to hear your opinions on this one.

Let's say type-ins are about 2000 a month ...he doens't have the name currently resolving. I looked at OV and it was 26 with extension I think.

First of all, only domains you own are allowed to be posted for appraisal.

With that being said, I'd never recommend leasing. You could make the site very popular, and then the owner takes it back and sells it to someone who is willing to pay a lot more than you originally could have got it for since it is now a popular website, and you have nothing. Buy it up front or don't use it at all is my 2 cents.

low to mid $xxx is what this domain would be worth in my opinion undeveloped. If he is selling for more than that he is asking a lot. 1682 Overture without extension, and 0 with extension are the numbers i got for September. I would not recommend leasing this site because of the work you would put into it with the chance of loosing, unless he is leasing it to you for around $5.00/month, 1 year contract with option to buy after the first year, I wouldnt mess with it.

Good luck

maybe this can be moved from this topic since I dont own this site...

I am not really interested in developing the site unless I own it but I may use it for just parking at sedo and/or forwarding it to another site...

you guys make sense though and now I am not so sure I want to do the deal...like I said though...to buy the site..the guy wants a small fortune... mid $xxxxx...originally I offered $750 thinking even that was a little on the high side.

OW! You better REALLY want the site to even considder paying that much. I'd suggest not being quite as interested and maybe you can talk him down. :cheeky:

I spent about 10 email back and forth.

I got the feeling he was a bit of an ass. He googled me and saw all my game domains and thought "I got a sucka"...

He wants $500 for a year lease with a second year option at $600 and he wants $5000 to buy the name...yeah it's outrageous I know. I MIGHT lease the name for a year. He is letting me host dns for a week to view traffic on my server.

So until I see that I won't make a decision.

$500 for a year lease is expensive, he'll probably raise up the lease/sale price when the name gains popularity. 'l33t' is just a better 4 chars .com & I don't think the name worth more than $1K reseller. Just my 2 cents.

Anything over $60 to lease this name for a year would be a waste of money. Just my opinion.

It was a bad idea to mention the domain here just b4 u host the dns (to monitor traffic) coz it will be inflated with all our (dnf) visits

There are no links to l33t.com on this page (i dont think). Most would be inclined to type it in (that's what I did). This means you won't be able to measure type-ins.
