Would appreciate some opinions on this one.

Great place for tourism site due to the large number (and cost) of people taking holidays to lapland to see Santa at christmas.

Thanks JohnGBUK, Care to estimate its value?

One thing which im not too sure of is do they have Lapland as a place where santa lives in the US? I know northpole would be first on the list, but i believe (perhaps wrongly) that lapland is where people would actually go to visit santa.

Lapland? We hear some say, "Where is it?"

For sure you will not find this magical Lappish-Finnish home of Santa Claus easily in many atlases of the world. Yet it's easy to find if you know how.

Lapland, in Finland, is far, far to the North of Scandinavia in the homeland of the Lap' Sami people. Spread over more than one country (including Norway, and Sweden ), it promises fun for kids, children, adults, everyone, regardless of age.

Seems like an entertaining country ;)
$5-10K as I see it, would be worth more to the right end-user.

Search on google for finland an lapland and you'll find lots of potential end-users.

Hi WhoisSearch.

Thanks again for the appraisal. I have been having a look about and think it might be better targetting towards a holiday agency.

Ive been looking about and it seems most of the 5 day lapland trips go for around 1,000 EUR (about $1,300) per person, so it seems like an expensive industry.

I'm not sure about the fins, but here in Sweden it's spelled: lappland

Thanks for that insight icehole, I didnt know there was another spelling.

Fortunately, I think lapland.com is the more popular spelling, there are about 3x the amount of google results for lapland compared to lappland.

If it were mine, I would not let it loose for less than 4 figures. I'd rather hang on to it.

you are right, and I checked. Some languages (including Swedish [Finland's neighbor]) spell it lappland, however the two most important languages for this name (english and finnish) spell it with one P so it is a good name indeed, better than the 2 "p" version!

congrats

wow! that's some piece of gold..

I am a Finn who has experienced the extreme seasons of -35 degrees snowboarding, and trekking through wilderness after midnight in full daylight. Then relaxing the following day in a wooden cottage by some remote lake. Oh yeah.. after a swim i took a sunbath in 27 degrees :)

heheh.. didn't pay 1000 euros

An advice for those who might be planning a trip to Lapland:

Consider taking a regular flight to Helsinki (capital city) and from there a domestic route to Lapland. FlyingFinns's cheapest fares between London Stansted - Helsinki start from €69 an then continue to Lapland with another €59. This way you can save your money for domains d:-)
