How do you "cancel" the registration? And if it had hundreds of thousands of hits a day, who in their right mind would cancel it even if they could? They'd sell it themselves.

Can you tell us how you back ordered this name? It just sounds strange that there is 1.5 years on it....what service did you use?

something like that happend to me when credit.com was put in my sedo acct and i had about 50 offers in one day...bunch of lowballers i was in my acct also.. it was a mistake

OK if you would like specifics pm me and I'll tell you the name. the company that held it sent a letter and email to all current customers saying that they were no longer using this more generic name and would instead be using their well-developed brand names in order to avoid brand confustion. There was also a recent (March 30th) CEO change and an acquisition and consolidation of all the brands.
Sorry to be so vague, just protecting my a$$!

lateral transfer at the Registrar then.
the Registry had nothing to do with this. The name was never deleted.

I think it was a dumb move on the companies part but I benefitted!

yeah it was a lateral transfer.

Could be spam traffic domain deleted by registrar

Nope very legit traffic. Online with original content since 1995

very legit congrats !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least 400k min

very legit congrats !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least 400k min

you don't even know what the name is or what type of traffic it is...

He's in here worried he might have legal issues with the whole thing...

...are you saying you'll give him $400k sight unseen right now?

...yeah, I didn't think so.

It all seems very fishy to me.

What is the domain?

Bigboy PMed me and we chatted for a bit about the name on the phone. He's seen it. Not gonna post the name here. If you really need to know, PM me. But please respect the rules on this forum "For your protection do NOT post specific domains that you are having trouble with, post the situations and ask the experts for their opinions." And what I am trying to keep private. Thanks!

This does look fishy. Maybe it was an error. Try to monetize it in the meantime at least. :).

This still does not make sense to me...and I don't think knowing the name has anything to do with it..

"I noticed a few months ago that the site was down and decided to backorder it (based on traffic and search metrics it seemed like a great idea). The domain was released back to the registry with plenty of time left on registration and I won it."

The questions I have are:

1. Where did you back order it?
2. How was this name "released back to the registry" with time left ?
3. How did you win it without any competition?

I am just very curious...as it does not make any sense to me unless you somehow made arrangements with the company to purchase the name...When you say you "Backordered" it

Well I had it on Backorder through Godaddy. It was regged through Godaddy. When it was Released by the company the domain moved laterally to me without actually going to the registry.
By the way, as of 3pm PST today, so far I have had 2,507 clicks!

That total is just for today!

What parking company?

what does the name make you a day?

Well right now I am testing it. I have an affiliate link on the site that pays me 15% of the product sold. Right now i have a 50.28% CTR and I'm now up to 3,629 clicks on the affiliate link today. I had it at a parking site but they were only paying $.07/click. The affiliate deal seems to be working out better. At least until I figure out weather or not to sell.
I've been advised by those who know a lot more than I do not to tell anyone else the dn until a sale agreement is reached. I will do some server traffic stats screenshots soon though!

Is it selling?
