The medical marijuana scene is taking off in Maine and I feel as if this has big potential.. If developed correctly this name could provide it's self as a tool for the community. It has potential in my eyes, how about yours?

Not a good name. Whether someone would ever use it as a site doesn't really matter. This name doesn't give anyone an advantage, so nobody needs it. The fact that you had to add a bunch of white noise in your explanation just reinforces the point. For having joined in 2004, this seems like a crazy way to be spending your time. Some may say that I am spending my time unwisely, too, but it is an appraisal thread, and this name really serves no purpose. Anyone wanting to put up a site about Maine Marijuana could easily do so with any other similar name, so there is no reason for them to pay you money for this. And even if you did find a buyer the most you could really get in a sale is low XXX, and that is if you are extremely lucky. Since the odds of you getting low XXX are very very low, then that means that the name is worth low XXX divided by the odds of getting it.

I would say there is a one percent chance or less that you ever sell this for $100, so the name is really worth $1 or less. Not trying to be harsh, but that is the way valuations work. It seems like most people here give appraisals on best-case scenarios, yet they conveniently leave out the odds of them getting that desired result, and they also never factor in the time and effort spent trying to get that result.

I am going with ZERO.

I didn't add white noise, simply added information since you I bet are NOT from Maine, and I bet you are not up on Maine's current laws, are you? I also quickly explained what I thought it come into..
All there is in Maine around the medical marijuana scene right now is "TALK".. Talk about when dispensaries are opening, talk about location, talk about what caregivers to use and not to, and talk about what strains to use and not to use..

It serves no purpose huh? I've connected around 100 patients in the last two weeks to qualified caregivers, along with around twenty doctor recommendations as well.. I've had multiple websites contact about teaming up and working together for promotion and advertising purposes.. I also had another site ask me to sell their calender when it comes out for 2012.. All because of two Maine marijuana based names.

IF YOU do not see potential in medical marijuana based names at this turn of the century, that my friend is not my fault.. ALSO - How I'm spending my time, is working and donating my time and knowledge to the medical field and helping sick patients with life threatening conditions.. This is a project that will serve as a tool to further my efforts to help people with my time I spend here on earth.. So PLEASE do NOT tell me that I am not spending my time wisely, as you have no clue about me - thank you.

Thanks for your opinion either way.. But I don't see why your explanation needed to be so long and so negative about "no use" and "no relevance" when clearly there is A LOT of potential in the medical marijuana scene..

Anyone else there who isn't as bitter as this fellow here?

This forum section is titled "Domain Name Appraisal Discussion" It isn't for appraising biz-ops, developed websites, big ideas, inventions, etc. So, sometimes people don't like what they hear because they have a whole lot of time invested in thinking about what they want to do with the name. Just because someone thinks that your name is worth zero, doesn't mean your idea is. But people should still pay attention to these zero appraisals - why not find a name that is also valuable to go with your idea?

If this name is valuable, why aren't these names registered or also valuable:

MaineMarijuanaChat.com
MaineMarijuanaDiscussion.com
TalkMarijuanaMaine.com
etc. etc.

Because none of them has any value as a domain name without putting some effort behind them - the same effort that would add value to any of an infinite number of equally worthless domain names.
When you, as someone that has been around awhile, posts this type of name in the appraisal section, it may lead newbies to believe these types of names have some intrinsic value worth registering on their own.

Please take this as constructive advice for more than just you. I say this as someone that owns plenty of vanity domain names and otherwise worthless except for my "big idea" domain names. I just don't post them for public ridicule, and assume correctly that they are worthless until I add the sweat of my labor to them.

Good luck with your project.
