anyone else notice revenues crop by about 50% or more a couple days ago? on the same clicks, i'm suddenly making only a fraction of what i was.

very disconcerting.

New google update ( a few days ago )..check your stats..is your traffic down ? then you probably lost some rankings in the update.

OR if your traffic is about the same then you may have had a good advertisers leave .. OR .. whatever market you are in a rates may have dropped if your product/service is out of season,,

could be one of many or more than one variable.. look at your traffic stats , look at ad rates (is it costing less for the advertiser? ) ..

Until Google ads more backend features to adsense you need to do more leg work your self.

good luck..

Thats good .I wouldnt worry about then..most likely you lost an advertiser or the competition for ad rates for your service/product has dropped off..meaning the ones that are buying ads are paying less....

If the area you are in is solid you'll be fine ..just keep building worry about the things you CAN change; the advertisers will be back as long as you are providing useful targeted content.

Yeah for me. My revenue has been increasing. *knocks on wood*

I went from $20 a day, to $0.20 a day, now to $10 a day. :)

Hey Android,

I thought it was just me :/

My revenues are almost exactly 1/3 also --since three days ago. All of a sudden one of my big revenue sites started showing one ad instead of four. So, that hurt, and was probably related to the fact that adwords just billed everyone and some advertisers decided to not show ads any longer for awhile.

But, the rest of the sites are showing at full capacity, but I'm making 25%-33% as much per click! argh.

Also, I've noticed that the google stats do not update consistently as they did before. For instance, adsense updates roughly 2 hours behind, but lately, I've noticed that it won't update for 4-8 hours at times.

Yeah, but I've gone through this with them before and their support will just say something like "oh no, there's no change and your revenues are still the same..." --as if I don't know any better.

Not having reporting per domain just kills me. It's like a hit-or-miss with adsense. They pay well, but it's sooo frustrating to deal with.

I mean, I switched olympicpc.com to DS 3 days ago (gets about 8,000 uniques / month); and I freaked out because I was thinking that all my revenue (after the switch and then the drop in $$) must have been coming from olympicpc! However, I switched it back to adsense the next day and still had the same low revenues. *sigh*

Hey bidawinner,

The google update should not affect the publisher CTR (once you already have a visitor) or the CPC of an ad.

My stats for these pages have been steady, but the CTR and CPC have plummeted. Assuming that these visitors are already on my pages, I do not see why these new visitors would all-of-a-sudden just not click on my ads... you know what I mean?

And, when they do click... I only get a fraction of what I was. IMHO, I don't think it has to do with the google update...

Oh , I am not questing that.. as long as traffic is the same then it's clear the advertiser is paying less for their traffic , I can see where a lot of advertisers monthly budgets are maxing out. So you end up with less advertisers and those that are left simply dont have to pay as much per click because of less competition for those clicks..

BUT.. for those who's traffic has fallen off..then the Google update may have hit them..just pointing that out..so people can check their logs and zero in if that is the case..or check their google rankings.

I am confident that for most with good content..this will just be a small bump in the road.. adveritsers go as far as their budgets alllow..their gone then their back again.

Ah... gotcha. Excellent point. I even noticed that I was paying less on some of my PPC account; but the two did not click for me.
