Microsoft And Yahoo Talks Back On

We’ve got multiple sources at both Yahoo and Microsoft telling us that official talks are back on between the two companies. But we’re hearing something different than CNET - the talks are about a full buyout again, not a sweetened search-only deal.

I agree, full buyout so we have at least 2 options in advertising partner microsoft/yahoo and google.

Like sands thru the hour-glass... these are the days of our Search Engine lives.

Now that Yahoo has emerged from their coma (their 2nd one?), will the powerful Microsoft finally end up in bed with Yahoo, marriage proposal in-hand?

If you merge two losing footballs teams, what do you get? My Yahoo Search referrals have been in terminal decline for years, and their current search results are just garbage. MSN Live on the other hand is convulsing on the floor.

Both of these companies have a long track record of taking a beating from Google, so I doubt anything game changing is going to come from this buyout [if it happens at all]. When you look at how quickly billion dollar empires are forged online, Google's threat is likely some 16 year old kid sitting in his Mom's basement.

Yahoo Search is somewhat piece of bigger pie to assemble as noted by Steve Balmer from his previous talk posted in Washington Post last couple of weeks.
