Moldova’s communications regulator, the National Regulatory Agency for Communications (ARCOM), has opened a public consultation regarding a proposed new regulation for the .md ccTLD.
The consultation is open until June 17, 2026.
According to the official announcement, the proposed regulation would replace the current rules established under Administrative Council Decision No. 42/2020 and introduce updated provisions related to registration, renewal, blocking, withdrawal, transfer procedures, dispute resolution, Premium domains, and measures aimed at preventing speculative or abusive registrations within the mdTLD.
The project states that the goals include strengthening Moldova’s online identity, promoting national values, encouraging cross-border online activities, and reducing negative effects related to the registration and use of .md domain names.
Interested parties may submit comments and recommendations directly to ARCOM during the public consultation process, so if you have opinions or proposals as a domain investor, developer, registrant, or member of the domain industry, now may be the right time to share them.

What do you think this could mean for the future of the .md aftermarket, pricing, and generic .md domain investing?
