GoDaddy seems to be charging "Just $799.99/yr" on preorders of .mx domains.

How do you feel about the price?
Did you preorder any .mx domains?

I ordered one through domainmonster at $699.99. GoDaddy was $100 bucks more! I was also able to secure the name.

Did you order any? How do you feel about the market? I would like to develop the name, I just think it may be difficult with the language barrier, although I think that the market will definitely grow/get better.

I had no idea domainmonster was charging $100 less.
That being said, I think it was a very risky move by the .mx registry.
If they ever wanted to get analytics on valuable domains, there you go.
All they have to do is see which ones were purchased at the very beginning.

That being said, I think that if you have a Spanish domain name, it should be primarily in Spanish. Having a link to change the language to English would be a good idea, too. The same with an English domain... have a link to be able to view a Spanish version of the website.

Just hire a professional translator if you're worried about the language barrier. Any site willing to make money should be willing to make the investment.

I just ordered three of them, I think they're a good investment if you know what names to invest in. .Com.mx in mexico is all over the place and I have seen some owned by big companies he in the US alone.

Had you decided earlier this year that you wanted some certain .mx names, all you had to do was register the .com.mx version of it and wait a few months... then apply for the .mx... all at basic registration cost of like $15 each.

My one and only .com.mx domain was pre-registered for .mx and cost me $99.

Yes, if you owned the .com.mx, then it is different. If you did not own one at all, you would have to pay today's registration prices.

I have my.com.mx but I can't get the my.mx as they are not allowed to registered 2 character domain as of this date.

I'm happy with my media.com.mx website so far. It is now PR3 for a couple months launch. Not bad.
