Having just seen the requirements to simply transfer a .co.uk domain from one person to another I am extremely pleased I do not have too many of them.

I am almost tempted to not even bother with the "sale" although it is in the $xxxx .

I am sure I am not alone in being extremely irked in this age of the internet to have to "p" around with letters from one part of the world to another - It is antiquated and bureacratic.

There, I feel better now

Congrats Wot. With all this time around here I'd think you would have sold a few more of those. They work good for type-ins sometimes, but what a pain on transfer huh? What's with all these crazy registrars over in Europe (and the stinkin registry?). Of course the US has problems of their own. GoDaddy likes to plug in policies (like their 60 day holds just do to a whois change) sheesh. Guess we're all just doomed to deal wit it.

Your loss :approve: - I agree they are a pain to transfer, but the potential far out weights the negative aspects of the extension.

I dislike the way Nominet handles transfers... if you use Sedo to buy a UK domain does Sedo collect each letter and send it off in the Escrow service they provide?

No, apparently I have to send the letters to the "buyer" who then sends everything, my two letters and his two letters to Sedo :goofy:

To date I have been waiting 10 days for the "letter " from Nominet, why they cannot email it defeats me.

What is the normal process for transferring a .co.uk name? I just got one (my only one) and it was an easy push from one Godaddy account to another. Am I missing something? Are you able to transfer (Godaddy to eNom or similar)?

No, you can't push .co.uk domains via a registrar. That does not change the recorded owner (it's a common mistake that many people make, since it does in some cases change part of the displayed Whois record).

The only way to change the legal, recorded owner of a .co.uk domain is to do the paperwork through Nominet and pay their fee (35.25 pounds) to record the changes.

That is one of the reasons why it's not worth registering .co.uk domains that are potentially only "worth" $50-100 - the buyer would have to pay another $62 in fees to Nominet to get the transfer legally processed.
