For your Sunday morning reading pleasure, a new Cover Story is out at Domain Name Journal

My First Year in the Domain Business: A Rookie's Diary

Why make the same newbie mistakes when someone else has already made them for you and will tell you the traps to avoid? The writer didn't sell a single domain his first five months in the business. He sold over 150 the next 7 months and is now sitting on a tidy profit and 475 domains that have all been paid for with proceeds from previous sales. Find out how it happened in this article (home delivery included at no extra charge!).

After I read your article Duke, I got to thinking. I wonder if anyone is doing a "Domain Blog"? If there isn't, you should be the one to create the very first "Domain Blogger". Your writing style was made for "blogging". The added links to your story is what gave me the idea.

Keep up the excellent work. I do mean that. A lot of times people receive accolades for doing subpar work, but I have to be honest with you. You are a very talented writer!

p.s That Dukes.ws name is still available. That would be the perfect name for your "blog". Dukes Word Shop! :D

Thank you all for your kind comments. I appreciate that you take the time to visit the site and read the articles.

Izopod - I actually have a Snap right now on a superb blog domain. Wasn't sure what I would do with it if I catch it but if I get it and decide to develop it, your idea is a very good one. I will definitely keep it in mind.

sample blog:

I woke up this morning wondering how my "escalation" at Godaddy.com was going. I called and it was still with the "development" team. My thinking is that at least this will be one of the last "escalations" I have to do. I have bought all the names I will ever need and shouldn't need priority service ever again! 5/26/2003 10:44 p.m

Wonderful article, Duke.

I'm just coming out of my first year as well, and it was like reading my own experiences. :D

great read. Takes me back to my own neophyte days, tring to register any single word dot coms I could a s I scanned the distionary. The first one available was gridlines. However, I was so confused by Network Solutions registration process, that by the time I had it figured out... it was gone. My first reg... imawhiz.com (ouch!!)
