More Steel,less guns!

Gun shot is the 2nd factor of death in USA.

Grandma can bring machine gun to fire the robber, but robber also can use machine gun to rob banks and criminals can kill people like kill a chick.

It is nightmare to read news that American can buy pistols in shops like buy
a mobile phone.

LOL! Steel prices are on the climb. The worlds 4th largest producer of steel increased their prices 20% OVERNIGHT! http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssIndustryMaterialsUtilitiesNews/idUSSEO14469120080410

Having said that, I don't think if you stopped all the gun production in the world it would have an impact on the steel market. Also, it's not quite as easy to buy a gun as you think. You have to fill out an FFL form (Federal Firearms License) on the spot before you are given a gun and people with criminal history, domestic abuse, certain felons, etc. are prohibited from buying firearms.

Look, guns are like matches. They are only dangerous in the wrong hands.

On that note, Chinese-produced steel is the worst. Do not buy any steel products Made in China. It corrodes quickly.

any proof?
any concrete brand name?

are there different laws/regulations in different states of America?
e.g. in a far far away county, just buy a gun plus a bottle of water?
in your USA movie, getting a gun is just like that easy

ANYTHING I bought that was made of "stainless steel" with the words Made in China on it, had corrosion stains in a matter of weeks. Chinese steel is mass-produced with sub-standard process at locations that lack the infrastructure to have full furnaces.

I'm afraid to buy anything from china, baby toys, medicine, ugh! To many recalls and health hazards.

But on the gun subject its not the gun that kills people, its people. If you took all the guns out of the world the fruit loops out there that wants to see someone dead would just find a new way to do it.

tell me all the company name of these products ,I will report to government to punish them.

China still has steel that uses for spaceshuttle.

I think the so called stainless steel is not real steel,or covered with steel?

there are good ones, and worse ones and bad ones.

To be competitive, bad and worse ones have lower price and enter the supermarket.

Just sue the super market first and then China companies.

My advice: buy famous brand from China, like Lenovo laptop,Haier refrigerator

There is "some" truth to chinese steel being inferior. There was an ASTM bulletin years ago that was specific to forged fittings. In recent years however, they have made great strides in steel production. Even so however, most EPC contractors and end users have an approved vendor's list for steel plates, forgings, pipe, tubing, etc. and as a rule of thumb, they do not permit FSR suppliers, Chinese suppliers or third world country suppliers.

Again, that being said, they hammer us for US and Western European suppliers, yet when we lose jobs, we lose them to the Koreans and Indian companies using Chinese materials. Go figure.

Some of the best steels in the world are produced in Western Europe by Voest Alpine, Dillinger, Industeel.

Gun laws will only punish the people who want to protect themselves. Most guns used in crimes are bought illegally anyway so they are off the "record" and the criminal can easily get another one.

I don't like guns (partially to the fact that I'm a horrible shot) but I sleep with a very sharp sword under my bed and my dogs are protection trained (dogs - the only weapon that cannot be turned against you).

Florida is rather laid back with their gun laws (you can get a concealed weapon license) BUT, if you use a gun in a crime, you're locked away for 10 years minimum (first offense), 20 years for the second, life for the third.

It is nightmare to read news that American can buy pistols in shops like buy
a mobile phone.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Yes, many stores do sell guns but there is a long process you need to go though to buy a gun and even after you get all the permits and such there is still a waiting period to even get the gun.

Please get your facts straight.

I'm afraid to buy anything from china, baby toys, medicine, ugh! To many recalls and health hazards.

I agree. There have been way too many recalls and hazardous items shipped into the US from China. The massive pet food recall, the children's toys shipped in with the date-rape drug in them just for beginners. While these items are being made in China (and a little too coincidental, IMO), it is also our customs department for not checking up on these things (but with the amount of imports coming in to hire the manpower to handle all of this would significantly raise the price of many of the goods we use on a daily basis).

Re Steel: You get what you pay for... Australia's largest supplier, Bluescope, costs you an arm, leg and your first born, but I've heard of bluescope products lasting more than 30 years and they still look new. Or so the marketing says.

Re Guns: Agreed on the problem being people... but you've got to remember that carrying a gun massively increases the likelihood of its use already.
Australia is a very similar society to the US. Guns are one of the areas where we differ dramatically. When a single person gets shot, it makes national news here because it literally is that rare. People can't just whip out a Saturday Night Special from their coat pocket because someone flipped them off on the street or stepped on their new shoes.
Likewise, purchase of firearms is VERY heavily controlled. You have a VERY hard time justifying a purchase of a pistol, other than a targeting or sports pistol, without showing some sort of proof as to why it's important (i.e. L4 security workers can get them easily, but a retail clerk would have some difficulty).

You gotta remember, the right to bare arms was conceived of in a time when it took about 2 minutes to reload a single shot, and it wasn't terribly accurate.
I think the US' founding fathers would seriously reconsider the second amendment if they saw the power of modern firearms.

I think the best way to stop crime is to kill all people, which shouldn't be too hard considering we're already doing a good job at it

But oops...if we kill all people, who'll buy my ultra quad premium, non-repeating LLLLLL.coms?

P.S.: Draggar, you're my new Mr. Cool for sleeping with a sword under your bed
