They have never been developed but they do have type in traffic

I set up an avatar site at avatars.cc. It wasn't too hard, just required a lot of work to rename and sort the images and upload them. It runs with no maintenance now. So development wouldn't be too hard for MyAvatars.com, which I think is an excellent name. Just look at the recent sales of myKEYWORD.com names to see how valuable these names are. Now "avatars" certainly aren't as popular as "finance", but I'd still put this up in the high $xxx low $xxxx range.

How much type-in traffic do they get, if you don't mind sharing?

For type-in traffic it gets about 130 unique visitors per month...
