Nice, but myblog.in would be worth exponentially more than the secondary one... Just my thought.

Thanks - but the .co.in names are receiving considerably more type ins that the .in - around 20 X's based on the names I have.

Getting back to the matter in hand, my recent experiences suggest that Blogging is particularly suited to local languages and cultures in India. It seems to me that it is unlikely that there is going to be massive demand for this name, when most of the sites will be in Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Bangla, Punjabi, Telugu, Kannada and Tamil. I think your target market is going of a size probably comparable to say Greece rather the 1 Billion you have quoted. Dot co.in probably does get more traffic at the moment, but dot IN is the future and that will be boosted enourmously by the introduction of IDN.

It would seem that the $400K was a very generous settlement for the dot com.

I would guess that this domain will have some value at it could well be used by an IT elite or the expatriate community, but I would say low $x,xxx.

Thanks for the input Dave , you are heavily in to idn's ?

Do you think they will be introduced in the UK, may be necessary for areas such as Glasgow, Liverpool, Cornwall - Norfolk :clown:

saying that india will switch to .in is just a guess.... would they tell americans that tommorow you're switching from .com to .us ? of course you'll have some ppl switch but most likely the .in will be secondary to .co.in(commercial)

Only if these places have users which use non-latin scripts. They may well still be using the Runic alphabet in Cornwall who knows, most of it remains uncharted!

No, I am not telling anybody anything. It is reasonable to postulate that the TLD is going to be more popular than a Second Level Domain. Furthermore, this theory has already been tested in China and Japan, where the TLD was introduced later.

As for the US they will always prefer "longspaghettisoupdomains.com" to anything else. No apparent logical reason, but if they want to damage their businesses in this way, who are we to interfer?
