Are Name Administration actively looking to sell names? I just went to one of their landers and saw the Proforma Inc box, inviting people to make offers on their domains.

If so, this is a tidal shift in their previous stance - brought on by reduced revenue?

My guess is, they want to sell a few non-earning names and roll the money into real estate...

If you offer 5 figures, they will sell.

In view of constantly declining ppc revenues (over the past year or two) and renewal fees going up on a yearly basis I am sure NameAdmin and many others who were not sellers in the past are now selling, or at least trying to sell in this declining resale market.

Due to the above I have severely reduced my spending on both buying and new registrations. In fact am now in the process of letting 25% or more of my names drop, especially the ones with little if any traffic/revenue.

All renewal fees are expenses. Simply put: incorporate and sit back on your assets ad infinitum. The other day, I had an email from some guy inquiring about a single word .ORG - I told him to make an offer via Sedo. He responded "that's ok, I will wait until you don't renew it". I told him to grab a comfortable chair and a large bag of popcorn because it will be a long wait :D The market is doing fine, saturation has occurred among "resellers". The goal is always to sell to end-users, maximizing your ROI. Frank Schilling has renewed his entire portfolio well into 2011.

Theo....Incorporate....or LLC?.....are renewal fees considered expenses under both?

Behind a big change is usually a big reason. Wonder what it is.

Tony, go to IncorporationAndLLC.com - you should find some info there ;)

It depends on the focus of your company - if it actively registers, parks and sells domain names then yes.

ok....what if it's mostly registering...parking...and developing...not much selling...any advantages of Incorporating over LLC....or vice versa?......

under both you can write off renewal fees, hosting, development costs...etc....right?

It all depends on the particulars for the state your business is registered at. But generally speaking, yes to all of the above :) Talk to a CPA.

If the economy continues to slide I think some domainers will be more motivated to sell or drop names. It will be a chance again for others to get some good deals, like back in the early 2000's. Right now I'm focused on renewing what I have and looking for bargains in the aftermarket, and not so much fresh regging anymore.

They have always sold names if you made a strong offer and knew who to talk to...and I just went to a few of their domains and they did not have offer links..so maybe it's just some..no big deal imo

Dead silence on the blog for 6 months is a bit of a give-away.

If he were a celebrity writer, yes. They are pretty active on various venues, including Namejet (did you use to own that name btw?)

Unless they are owned by one of those old rich fanatics who just love pissing people off and not selling anything ever to anyone, lol

They selling in the xx,xxx range?

It's a good thing if they consider selling, cause their business model is risky.
Nothing wrong with taking a profit from time to time...

Even Warren Buffet sells from time to time !
