Nov 2 (Reuters) - NameMedia Inc filed with U.S. regulators on Friday to raise up to $172.5 million in an initial public offering of common stock.

Credit Suisse, Jefferies & Co Inc, Banc of America Securities and RBC Capital Markets are underwriting the IPO, the online media company told the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in a preliminary prospectus.

The company plans to list its shares on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol "NAME." (Reporting by Supantha Mukherjee in Bangalore)

nice find, was expecting this to happen.

...Nasdaq under ticker symbol "NAME."
That is the ideal ticker symbol for this biz.

This is good news...would bring some mainstream media attention to the industry

yeah i agree.. awesome ticker name

there is a registrar in stock market in Hong Kong already

LOL, you can tell we're name freaks, we're even admiring the ticker symbol, lol

Yep, i would say great news for industry, more exposure, credibility, etc

Speaking of publicly traded registrars.... TUCOWS Shares (TCX) are down about 25% .
this week......now trading around $0.72 (seventy two cents USD)

Adam,

For those of us that are forum members or clients of GoDaddy, do you have the "pull" with NameMedia to get us in on the IPO? I'll await the prospectus!

Bill

They announced on Nov 2nd, but when is it actually supposed to be listed and shares available for trade?

Good news for our industry!

I guess a good move from name media and for the whole industry

who's going in ??

Interesting development...

Will be great for Industry Awareness...

I regret to buy google online then, now might pass the namemedia before the IPO
if there is any news, I want to share.

it makes xxx million since beginning of 2007 till now,why it is so cheap?
in China ,it will be 100 USD per share ...

sounds interesting
im in the UK so nasdaq trades arent practical
if i was us based i'd be interested for sure
but with a major reservation - arent there a lot of potential tm issues with namemedias current dn portfolio?

Do you think this will have any bearing on .name domains? ;)

Nice news for the industry. Adds Legitimacy our presence! Here's hoping for a warm embrace.

i wonder does namemedia owns name.com?

Just to keep this thread alive I bumped it. Beside from "good, wonderful and those kind of worthless stuff", what would be the strategy for domainers for this stock? Do you think we should buy at IPO price? Do we have to wait and see how it is going to perform? The competitor marchex went to $7.50 52-week low from $20s and bounced back to $12 recently. Any market traders' opinion on this one please since I am seriously thinking to put load of money in this one.
