I found that in NameWinner, if you were grandfathered NW customers, only need $30 for a name. How to become grandfathered NW customers?

I don't think you can become grandfathered... you either are or you aren't.

I assume you can only be grandfathered if you already had an account when the increased the charges a year or so ago.

I haven't seen any selling of grandfathered accounts, and I guess that it wouldn't be all that easy. Accounting information to change etc.

Also, whereas some people had several $6.95 enom accounts and could sell off spare ones, most people probably only ever had (or needed) one NW account, and they are probably reluctant to give it up due to the potential $10 saving per name.

It was so far back when I was "grandfathered", I got them for FREE.

Oh, that's right. It was at Dotster where my .info's were FREE. :-D

2 years ago, Namewinner did 80% of my domain catching.
Today, zero.

So, being grandfathered doesn't help if they are not catching any domains.

I wish they would get back into the game. But, with a "simple" bidding format.

Yep $8.75 and like Actnow was where I used to get a ton of good names for nice, loq prices.
If I remember correctly NWs hayday was when snapnames started to fall off the pace a bit and Pool wasnt around.
Even Club drop used to do really well for me.

Ahhh the good old days when having the top bid with the winning drop catching service meant the name was yours.

Grandfathered minimum bids are US$30 instead of US$40.

Otherwise I think there is no difference.
