The German .biz IDN's launched today and I picked up geschäfts.biz.
According to my dictionary,worldlingo.com,and freetranslation.com, this means "business.biz".
However, "geschäft" without the "s" also means "business".A Google search shows more results for "geschäft" leading me to believe that the one I have is only second best.
I'm wondering if a German speaker could tell me how the two words relate and when the "s" version is mostly used. All extentions are taken in both versions,if anyone has an appraisal that would be great.Thanks.

:cheeky: I try to be! I think they're great, they let language be expressed as it's intended.
I have absolutely no idea how no one got this domain before me.I had a list of around 90 names I tried to get at 9am like möbel.biz and the biz versions of other German idn's that sold for big $$$ in .de. I ended up getting only 6 semi-good ones from that list.
Then later in the day I tried geschäfts.biz just for the heck of it,and it was actually still available.I put it on Sedo, hopefully someone will be interested.

EDIT:Forgot to mention, you can get IDN. BIZ at 007Names.com.

There was one biz IDN that seem to have been free, I let you know if I have got it.

If you would like to try and broker some names for me let me know, you seem to be good at it :-)

You like to promote the IDN, am I right? :ok:

"geschäfts" Googles on the German site at 270,000 and translates to "business". Maybe it's an adjective form or something. Nice one!

'Geschäft' also means 'Shop' according to Google Translater.

Lets hope these IDN's kick in.

Hello Matt

Geschäft is the noun for 'business' or 'shop'.

Geschäfts is used as a prefix such as Geschäftsplatz (business place) or Geschäftsleiter (departmenthead). It is really not a word in itself. The plural for Geschäft is Geschäfte.

Hope that helps.

Thanks susi,
That is somewhat what I expected.Could this mean it is interpreted as "the business dot biz"? The "dot biz" being the "place"? I'm not sure what I'm trying to convey here, but in a marketing sense, could the ".biz" take on the role of suffix? Because it seems to flow grammatically. Thanks for your help.
