Need Help Registering an Expired Domain

Hello All,

I am seeking help on trying to register a certain domain. I have contacted the registrar listed under the whois search, and they directed me to pool.com. Here is some of the info from the whois of this domain:

Domain ******.NET

Date Registered: 12/4/2003
Date Modified: 7/16/2006
Expiry Date: 12/4/2004
DNS1: dns.pool.com
DNS2: dns2.pool.com
It appears as if the domain expired on 12/4/2004? Shouldn't it be available to buy by now? When I do a whois search at whois.ws, it says it is available to buy and directs me to name.com to purchase it. But again it is unavailable. Does anyone know who to contact about expired domain purchasing?

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

without knowing the domain, i would think it is being auctioned or being sold thru pool's marketplace.

since it was modified in 2006, it wouldn't have expired in 2004
