Whats the repercussions if other registrars start doing somingthing like what Netsol is doing?

Will Google start to ban all new registered names to make surfing the web more friendly?

Will key word domains skyrocket in price or the ads we most use.

I feel the web (move and shake) like a monster has been unleashed that will change the www.

so how long wait until they down?
its getting annoying
do they have a bug?

:washing:

lol Looks like Networksolutions is getting in the news USA today.

Registrars have been doing what they want carte blanche for years. ICANN should review all questionable registrar practices, then publish a detailed itemized list of what registrar behaviors are prohibited, and then punish registrar non-compliance with suspension of registrar accreditation. It's called accountability. And without it, many registrars will abuse customers and rob them blind.

Seriously, where is the voice of those who accredit registrars? Big money corporate BS have ICANN in the hip pocket. Remember 16 months ago the proposed biz/info/org contracts that ICANN were about to bless in which registries could initiate tiered-pricing with no limits? ICANN need to make clear their disapproval of NetSol's front running. And NetSol need to stop it. End of story.

Indeed... But for REAL changes ICANN or whatever (new/another) authority should be international (with UNO?), not involved with _any_ government and operate independently.

More and more people are seeing this major unethical business strategy. When will they stop?? I bet very soon!

according to a goog finance netsolis owned by some general atlantic equity group- clearly bad news for an investors

so basically after being accused in a lie and "not protecting the customers"-as they stated- as anybody could still regg still at 35$, they have changed "the policy" to register them all for a year so now nobody can register domain they have searched at all

http://godaddy-godaddy.com/

their legal team probably struggling hard to come out with ideas right now

its probably ICANNS legal loophole- but damage is done

RIP networksolutions.com - hope to see you at snapnames soon..

(thats personal- they still owns me from a long time ago)

Do not hold your breath for help from ICANN('t), guys.

Remember Registerfly? This registrar was stealing people's money and not renewing domains, just a sinkhole where money went and vanished - a speaker at an ICANN meeting said that 250,000 domains were lost. After a long, extended period of insisting they could do nothing ICANN('t) revoked their registrar accreditation.

Registerfly was required by a court to post a message to that effect on their front page - right next to a link to where they say that it was all a misunderstanding and please send us more money.

Registerfly is still, today selling domain registrations.

NS is being unethical. RF was being criminal and got a slap on the wrist.
No help from ICANN('t).

And NetSol need to stop it.

They'll likely stop it if ICANN finally resolves the problem NetSol's trying to address
on their own. Hope it won't take eternity.

they are gonna get their *** sued off

:amen: word

Is it me, or have they turned that despicable feature off?
I tried to test it again and domains are not "reserved".

BTW Tucows keep domains and send the rest to their own auctions platform right ?
And I hear Netsol does the same: cherrypicking of expiring domains and they leave the crumbs to hungry domainers. Am I right ?

That they do, I think all registrars hang on to them now.

Ethics wise, this is becoming quite the race to the bottom. Industry consolidation will make it a lost worse before it gets any better.

Hanging onto the domain for their customers, couldn't this be considered anti-competitive activity as the user has no option but to purchase with netsol ?? If the domain hasn't been paid for, it should be available to anyone.

LOL trying to help me???, by spying on creative ideas and holding names captive for 4days i say its a crime nobody would know what i searched..in private but if they grab it and realease it ....it goes on a list for all to see and pickup ... that is a breach of some privacy act im sure....geesh what else they gonna do...sorry i think they got caught with hand in cookie jar. simple just stop it now and say " We Are Sorry "

there's a chunk of stuff on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_Solutions#Controversy_over_Domain_name_front_running
but I think it could do with some clarification; it kinda looks from the end of the article as though netsol have patched it up and it's all better.

Looking around on wikipedia reminded me of the verisign "sitefinder" thing, where they abused DNS to redirect unregistered domains to their site (!!!) ICANN intervened sucessfully in that case.

Perhaps there is hope they will with netsol.

Whatever it is, NetSol is certainly defending their front-running practice and not giving in to industry pressure against front-running. I love their holier-than-thou statement that they are "protecting" their customers.

It's very short-sited to offend people who hold large portfolios of domain names.
