I think that impulse buying is major ruining factor for failed domainers. . Disciplined research can be key to find a good domain. However, NO RISK NO GAIN

Neaz, I completely agree. You're dead on. I think new comers try to reg names for $8 and expect to sell them for $50,000, they don't understand why their $8 name and the one that I just paid $100k for are different. They will also run out and reg new extensions like .tel, .me, or .mobi and expect it to become the next .com.
You can add another affliction, or two.....Sleep Deprivation Syndrome.....And, Computer Shutdown Resistance Syndrome...
Sometimes, I just can't shut the damn comp down....And, I find myself still at the comp at 4am in the morning...!!...Plays hell with the rest of my life...
how about when you're looking back over old lists of domains that searched in the past and find one you werent sure of registering at the time, but now realize is a really good domain to have been available, and that you should register it asap, and then you go to look it up again and see that someone else just took it a few days ago. maybe not a symptom of anything but its damn sure annoying
