I kind of got caught up in this domain thing with the .eu landrush. Always before when I've got an idea for a site I've just took any domain going that sort of described it and built the site from there.

I'n been reading loads in this forum the last few weeks and as a result have picked up the following domains :

bizyb.com
hitly.com
nifti.net

I've also picked up expiredurls.com and expiredurl.com (I know domain would've been better but weren't available and I couldn't decide which so got both), as I'd like to write a few pages up about the whole domain thing from a newbie perspective. There is so much to learn.

I'm no newbie on the seo /webmaster front, just think I've been missing a huge part of the jigsaw by discounting domain quality up until I discovered this forum.

Any opinions on the above domains much appreciated, since I took all advice from here when I bought them (evil grin).

Ps I wont go into the other 10 or so 'impulse buys' I also now have. Is this 'impulse buy thing' normal ???

Is this 'impulse buy thing' normal ???

We have all done it, but better to do your research on a name, keywords, traffic, etc. before you end up with a profolio of junk.

nifti.net is the only one that "looks" decent IMO

keep reading, looking, learning :-)

Thanks !!!

This is a funny old game domaining. I'm finding it hard to grasp the concept when so many here say $ reg fee undelevoped, possibly $xxx developed.

Three of my most successful sites so far are domain names which all contain hyphens, 2 are .co.uk's and 1 is 10 letters long (hyphen plonked in the middle). They bring in about $1000 a month between them.
They were all started from scratch with no thought to the domain name worth should I wish to sell them later on. I know the keyword/traffic/seo thing backwards because I've worked hard on the above for them all.
And 2 of the .eu names I bought and set up sites on (both were subdomains previously) have shot up the rankings on Google and Msn the last 2 weeks. The above names were bought with ideas and sites in mind.

Anyway, I guess I'm saying, I'm no fool web-wise/traffic or seo-wise. Just the domain name market lol.

Domain names just for their worth on their own without a site backing it up is something completely different for me. I look forward as you said to reading loads more here. But I'll probably use the knowledge to a build website or two on this very subject.

Thanks again ! ( No more impulse buys for me )
